This statue is called “the self-made man”. From the state we can know it is a statue that is making himself. I can see this statue embodies three main ideas of the American Dream, they are hardworking, independence and self-reliant.
From the hammer and the action we can tell he is hardworking and he tries his best t make himself. Also from his muscle, we know he work a lot. In the American Dream, only hardworking guy can be success.
From the statue we also can know he is alone, just himself. He doesn’t depend on others like some people they don’t depend on other powerful or wealth people just on their one to achieve success. From the statue we can see he is using hammer and chisel to build himself on his own.
From the bottom of the statue we can know it used to just be one rock, it’s nothing but through his effort he made himself in the rock and become someone. It’s just like in the American Dream, many people at first is nobody, they have no money and nobody approve them but then through their effort they become somebody, some successful people.
